Towards Creative Change in Palestinian Education
Training of 30 school principals on civic education concepts and the Foundations for Democracy implemented

The Teacher Creativity Center completed a 2 day workshops for 30 school principals from different directorates of the West Bank as part of a two year project titled (Civic Education in Palestinian Schools: Promoting Active Responsible Youth Citizenship and funded by the Foundation For the Future, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and implemented by the Teacher Creativity Center.   

The two day workshop was implemented November 29-30 with 30 male and female civic education teachers of fourth, fifth and sixth grades

The principals were introduced to the key concepts of civic education including concepts of democracy including justice, authority, privacy and responsibility. The Foundations For Democracy which are four stories with four corresponding activity books and a teachers manual. Each story and activity book covers one concept in an interesting fun story and the module includes a participatory approach involving children through role playing, coloring and mimicking the characters in the stories.

The objective of the principals training is to make principals aware of the Foundations For Democracy to ensure adequate support by principals for trained teachers as they implement the project with students.
