One Million Educator’s Signature for Full Recognition of State of Palestine in September
One Million Educator’s Signature for Full Recognition of State of Palestine in September
The Arab Campaign for Education for All and the Arab Network for Education on Human Rights and Citizenship (ANHUR) launch the one million educator’s signature for full recognition of State of Palestine petition.

In order to acquire full recognition of the State of Palestine the Arab Campaign for Education for All and the Arab Network for Education on Human Rights and Citizenship (ANHUR) launched a campaign to garner one million educator’s signature to promote the Palestinian decision of approaching the United Nations. This campaign is part of the efforts put forward by educational institutions in the Arab Campaign for Education in Palestine and the Arab World to support the Palestinian cause, promote international support for the rights of the Palestinian people, and acquire the recognition of the State of Palestine in the United Nations General Assembly in September. The petition, by the Arab Campaign for Education for All and the Arab Network for Education on Human Rights and Citizenship (ANHUR), calls upon all supporting educators of human rights, believers in the just Palestinian cause, and supporters of justice and humanity in the world to sign this petition, because full recognition of the State of Palestine would also assure international legitimacy as a state under occupation rather than being a matter of disputed territories; furthermore, acknowledging Palestinian statehood would support the aspirations of the Palestinian people to end the occupation and attain their legitimate rights.

Approaching the UN is one step towards ending the occupation, gaining liberty, and establishing an independent state. Though this initial step won't end the occupation or stop resistance towards it, it is a tremendous step that requires the solidarity and support from those who are committed to human rights and social justice. According to Mr. Refat Sabbah, the president of the Arab Campaign for Education and General Director of the Teacher Creativity Center, the campaign for one million signature will be disseminated worldwide in four languages, targeting educators to acquire their support, and pressure their governments to support the decision of the Palestinian leadership in approaching the United Nations and the Security Council for recognition of the State of Palestine.

The statement of the campaign considered the decision of the Palestinian leadership to approach the United Nations will provide the State of Palestine with a legal status and new international legitimacy; in addition to ending the despicable occupation over the Palestinian people.

This campaign comes as an initiative by the Teacher Creativity Center, a member in the Arab Campaign for Education and the Arab Network for Education on Human Rights and Citizenship (ANHUR), which are two local Arab networks containing hundreds of educational institutions in the Arab world.
