An introductory meeting organized for 170 Students in Al-Quds Open University

Jenin- In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Al-Quds Open University, TCC has organized a meeting gathers around 170 students of third and fourth year, who are specialized in education and social service, in addition to representative attendance from the supervisor team of the project named: “Towards an Inclusive environment”, the team of special education section in the university and the inclusive education’s team in the Ministry of Education.

Dr. Imad Nazzal the Director of Al-Quds Open University in Jenin started the meeting and said: “This day is very special to renew contacting with local community institutions to develop the future partnerships and relations between them.

Moreover, this meeting aimed to engage the students with the initiative of operating the resources room. “This initiative aims to recruit capabilities and energies of the students there inside the resources room, to contribute in supplying schools with people who are able to handle with children with intellectual disabilities, and this help in replenishing the human resources in schools. Additionally, students can invest in their required work and volunteer hours within the field-training program in order to graduate in due course, especially in 15 schools where TCC implement its projects”. The Dean of the Social Development College Dr. Imad Ishtayeh said.

On her part, the Director of Education Program, Miss Shifaa Shaikha talked about the origination of this program in the Ministry of Education and how it has developed, she also demonstrated the process of operating resources rooms and the policy which was launched by the ministry. This policy does not exclude any child to let them getting their rights in learning and the Ministry is going to do a procedural plan to implement it.

TCC is playing an important role in advocating the disability sector, and this initiative comes within “Towards an Inclusive Environment” which is funded by the Swedish Institution for Individual Relief and includes establishing 14 resources room in public schools. Project Coordinator, Rawan Khayyat said.
