TCC launches Inclusive summer camps for children with disabilities
Teacher Creativity Center-Ramallah-27/07/2016- Teacher Creativity Center in cooperation with the national commission for summer camps has launched 2 summer camps in Silet Althaher town in Jenin and Kafr Aboush town in Tulkarem. Nearly, 172 child aged between 7-12 years old (42 child with disabilities) have participated in the camp which also targeted children with intellectual disabilities, where the camp started on 23th of July to the 5th of August 2016 , funded by the national commission for summer camps and they are implemented in partnership with the CBR program.

These camps include many activities, events and entertainment picnics, in addition to sport, drama, writing, national education and arts corners. A group of volunteers and supervisors who are educated well in handling with people with  disabilities managed the participation of children in different entertainment  games like Dabka, dancing and smart games.. All of these manners contribute in refining their personalities, increasing their focus and making them more inclusive with other children.

For her part, the project coordinator named Rawan Khayyat said, “These summer camps are one of the important activities which working on accepting the presence of people with disabilities in their community especially intellectual disabilities. Moreover, they have the right to live their life as other children, and this absolutely leads to creating an inclusive education”. She added.

These camps come to support the main goal of the “Towards an inclusive environment” which implemented by TCC and funded by the Swedish Organization for Individual Relief in order to promote the integration of people with intellectual disabilities in Public schools by contributing to a social, economic and political environment fit with the inclusive education for children in the north of the west bank.
